The Omega 3 and Cystic Fibrosis Connection
Omega 3 is a group of essential fatty acids that includes DHA and EPA. Omega 3 is good for the alleviation of inflammatory conditions including Cystic Fibrosis. This is the connection. Other inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, cystitis, and prostatitis.
The single most abundant source of Omega 3 is fish oil. Fish oil extracted from the tissues of fatty fish such as salmon, herring, sardines, and mackerel. The Hoki fish from the cold almost pure waters of New Zealand is a preferred oil because the fish contain only minuscule amounts of toxins or impurities.
Omega 3 also includes a long chain fatty acid called ALA. It is found in plant oils especially flaxseed and hemp oils. ALA breaks down into DHA and EPA in the body therefore the benefits may take a bit longer to be evident. People who have high blood pressure should be very careful with plant sources of Omega 3 as they can drastically and quickly lower the blood pressure.
People who consume adequate amounts of Omega 3 on a regular basis have reduced risks do developing coronary disease, breast and prostate cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer's.Polyunsaturated fats that are in Omega 3 also help to prevent or cure depression and anxiety. Bipolar disorder and schizophrenia can also benefit from Omega 3 consumption.
Up to 400 mgs of Omega 3 is the daily recommended dose. A concentration of EPA 180 and 120 mgs of DHA will provide optimum benefits. Two to three capsules is enough to get the necessary Omega 3.
To get the maximum absorption of the capsule the capsules should be taken at least 4 to 5 hours apart. This will also ensure the balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. The most effective ratio is 6 parts of Omega 6 to 1 part of Omega 3.
Omega 3 is available as a supplement in both capsule and liquid forms. Only supplements that have been purified through molecular distillation should be purchased. It is pharmaceutical grade fish oil and the only deemed safe enough for humans to consume.
