The Macintosh (commonly known as Mac) is a range of personal computers from Apple Inc. Named after the McIntosh variety of apple, the original Macintosh was released on January 24, 1984. The Macintosh operating system was originally known as the System Software or more simply System. With the release of System 7.6, the official name became Mac OS. Mac systems work with a different type of file system named HFS Hierarchical File System. This system was built by Apple for Mac PCs . The HFS divides a volume into logical blocks, each containing 512 bytes. These logical blocks are then grouped together into allocation blocks .HFS uses a 16 bit value to address allocation blocks, limiting the number of allocation blocks to 65,536.Thus Mac systems are susceptible to data loss.
