The Benefits of Alpha Omega 3 Fish Oil
Alpha Omega 3 is used to reference Omega 3 fatty acids on occasion. They are polyunsaturated fatty acids that contain an important fat known as ALA or alpha-linoleic acid. Omega 3s also contain DHA and EPA. The most abundant source for Alpha Omega 3 fatty acids is fish oil.
Some plant oils such as flaxseed oil is a rich source of Alpha Omega 3s. It contains large amounts of ALA and is a long-chain fatty acid. ALA breaks down into both DHA and EPA to be used in the blood stream. Direct sources are fish and fish oil supplements are
recommended which are important for good health.
Good supplements supply up to 400mg of both DHA and EPA. The recommended daily allowance is 3 to 4 capsules daily for healthy adults. Children and the elderly should take 1-2 capsules. Fish oil supplements are available in liquid form as well. The liquid form are pure and do not have side effects.
Most people can take Omega 3s with no problem. Pregnant women are advise often to increase their intake of fish or to take fish oil supplements. Alpha Omega 3 fatty acids have been beneficial in preventing post-partum depression, heart disease, and Alzheimer's disease in the elderly. They can treat diseases such as arthritis.
DHA benefits memory and helps to prevent depression. The intake of adequate amounts of Omega 3 fatty acids positively affect the personality and behavior of an individual.
Depressive disorders have been linked to a deficiency in DHA. Under a doctor's advisement they could benefit from Omega 3 supplements that will replenish diminished levels in the blood.
Oily fish is primarily taken from including salmon, mackerel, and sardines. The Hoki fish from New Zealand is the purest of oils as the waters they inhabit are far less polluted than other waters. Since there is a good chance that the fish oil has impurities, it should be put through a process that exposes the oils to extremely high temperatures and is called molecular distillation. Molecularly distilled fish oil is considered to be pharmaceutical grade and the only oils fit for human consumption. Oils that are not processed in that manner, can cause adverse side effects including difficult to treat infections.
Eating a well-balanced diet and using supplements when necessary are important components of over-all good health. Alpha Omega 3 fish oil strenthens teh immune system and also supports mental/emotional health.
