Initially, nothing much happened, as I expected, but in a few days, I thought that maybe, just maybe, something was happening. But of course I refused to believe it. I was far too skeptical of this “witchdoctor,” and sure that any improvement was only my imagination a placebo effect.
A week later, however, I wasnt imagining things. Not only was I vastly improved, but I could actually get around! The chiropractor was either gifted or lucky and I didnt care which at this point because he probably saved my life! I was only happy to be somewhat normal again, and actaully landed a part-time job with the apartment complexs property manager who befriended us, and who wasnt the least bit concerned when I couldnt remain standing long enough for him to even show me how to fix a leaky faucet!
Over the years, I have experimented with grains many times, only to find myself back in the same boat. The only grain I can halfway tolerate is rice. When Zen sickness hits, it hits with a vengeance! If I could do it all over again, I probably would have taken time to cultivate a little compassion and love before going so deeply into concentration most meditators are already coming from that loving place. Its only jerks like me that get into trouble! Janet never had any problems at all.
I became resolved to the fact that I would never be as strong as I once was. St John of The Cross said it quite well that when serious meditators make progress, many times they become sickly. The grave mistake I made of forcing a crude mind to go deeply almost turned out to be lethal. Now I understood why teachers always insist that their monks follow a strict discipline it protects them.
Regardless of the illness, however, and perhaps because of it, my willpower mysteriously intensified and became stronger than ever. I now understood with my heart that nothing of this world would ever satisfy me again. I was determined to find truth no matter the cost, and was willing to risk my life a hundred times over if need be; my determination had become that powerful.
One other unusual effect of the illness might be worth mentioning. My mind became amazingly sharp. I could analyze things in unbelievably minute detail, where every aspect of a situation or problem would be disclosed to me immediately merely by directing my mind to it.
I had to admit that I would have done everything all over again, exactly the same way without hesitation including the illness because of the unseen benefits that this tragedy produced. Without this seemingly troublesome experience, I would never have become acquainted my new teacher a teacher who forced me to discover so much about myself as well as introducing me to so many selfless people who helped me through this ordeal. Who was this legendary teacher? It was non-other than . . . illness itself.
So I wasnt surprised to find within myself a greater capacity for compassion. One of the advantages of a long illness is that as ones fate is finally accepted, anger diminishes, and this was certainly true for me. Since little was left with which to concern myself, many of my passions and much of my rage began to weaken. I found myself now easily following the Buddhas advice for new monks, which is; Stay aloof, in seclusion, contented and dispassionate, and continuously keep in mind fading, cessation, peace, wanting little, and direct knowledge.
The most compelling effect of this whole episode was the unshakeable faith that this precious experience instilled within me. No longer were there doubts of any kind about anything, and I thirsted for another taste of that powerful Reality that hit me at the Zen Center, even though it dangerously compromised my health and nearly killed me. I could not explain the feeling for it was not of this world, but I was enthralled by it.
Now I understood those powerful, foolish-sounding words that appeared in San Francisco: You are now completely healed. I was healed . . . from ever again falling prey to the delusions of the world. I was free at last to search for the truth with all my heart, and although my body was seriously weakened, my resolve now had the strength of ten men.
Janet and I didnt know if we would find truth quickly, find it slowly, or find it at all, but it was too late to go back to what we were before this search began. Stopping now would only wedge us between worldly and spiritual desires, a most unwelcome situation. We had to keep striving until striving was no longer necessary. We would know.
With my health generally improving, we worked a few years in Boulder to get some cash together, and then one day it was time to travel again; a little signal would unexpectedly go off in my brain when it was time to move on. Was it restlessness? . . . Was it destiny?
Halfway between Seattle and Tacoma lies McKenna, Washington, a wet and wild nowhere where a Roshi was in the beginning stages of establishing a monastery on some land donated to Shasta Abbey,
. . . and this was our next destination.

So Janet was experiencing new perspectives resulting from meditation practice, but more than that, she was getting some explanations that she sorely needed about life.
When Janet and I met, we were a lot alike… yet so different. She was twenty-six, I was thirty-six, both born under the sign of the crab, both growing up in Cleveland, and both having a Catholic background. But she was the youngest of five children, I was an only child; and while I attended Catholic school for a year or two, she spent twelve years under the nuns thumbs!
Her mother came close to becoming a nun, same as mine, but before her mom could take the vows, her mothers parents suddenly died a few months apart dashing her aspirations to become a nun. Being the oldest of seven younger brothers and sisters, Janets mother had no choice but to take over the entire household at the tender age of eighteen.
Eventually, she finally married and produced five offspring, three girls and two boys, with Janet being the baby of the family.
Janets early years were hazy, maybe because she was only seven when her mother, after suffering for a long time, died of cervical cancer. The doctors initially gave her mother only a few months to live, but she managed to hang on for three years as she desperately tried to take care of her young family with matters complicated by Janets father, a nice guy who never missed a day of work, but an alcoholic nonetheless.
Janet recalled hiding in a closet quite often, but why, she couldnt remember, as if the reason was so horrible that it was permanently erased from her memory. Some things, however, she never forgot, like the day a favorite aunt took Janet on her lap and told her that her mom had just died. It was December 23. Janets Christmases were never the same again. She was seven years old.
At the funeral, Janet was told to kiss her mother goodbye on the forehead. She expected it to be warm and soft as she remembered, but found it to be cold and hard like a marble statue. She was shocked. She had heard about death, but now death touched her innocent heart directly, and she was badly shaken. Children cant know about death until they come face-to-face with it. It was all so confusing for her; how could a loving God take her mom like this? How could he do such things to blameless people and cause so much pain?
Janets two older sisters took over the cooking and cleaning, caring for their dad, their two brothers and Janet. But it was difficult, there was little money, and the place was small and noisy. Her fathers remarrying compounded a difficult situation, and his drinking worsened. Eventually, her oldest brother married, and her two sisters moved out on their own, leaving Janet and her younger brother to fend for themselves.
Janet remembered some good times, too. Her dad was always nice to her, and occasionally took her out of the city to Byesville, the small, southern Ohio town where he grew up. She always had great fun there with her only grandmother, along with her aunts, uncles, and cousins, but whenever she showed me her family album, everybody was smiling but her, without exception, in every photo.
Her dad did the best he could, going through the motions like any man does when hes picking up the pieces, and finally scraped enough money together to send Janet, his baby, to a state university. He was so proud of that. But at age fifty-six, while Janet was still in school, he died of a massive heart attack. Now, just about everything that Janet had left in the world was taken away from her.
His death was easier for Janet to accept than her moms, maybe because that first experience of death hit her so hard and there wasnt much left, or perhaps because she was older now. The only comforting aspect was that she no longer had to worry about his alcoholism, or watch him suffer the way he did.
Being on her own at a young age was difficult. She recalls visiting a local Catholic church quite often, alone, sometimes in the mornings, sometimes in the afternoons. Janet was a sensitive girl, very confused and extremely depressed. She pleaded for answers, prayed for them . . . but none ever came. She considered suicide once or twice, but just couldnt do it; it didnt feel right. Janet thought about what to do with her life, and thought about becoming a flight attendant, she so much wanted to travel, or perhaps doing missionary work, or possibly becoming a nun, but eventually, she decided to teach.
Studying never came easy to Janet. She was a slow, steady turtle, determined, staying up late almost every night trying to memorize things that the other kids picked up easily. No matter the hardships, however, she persevered; thats how she was.
It was an incredible struggle, but she somehow graduated from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and fulfilled her dream of teaching fourth grade at the Catholic elementary connected with her old high school. She didnt stray too far from home. As it turned out, however, her teaching career never got off the ground. Her bad luck continued and nothing seemed to work out for her even though she gave her all in everything she did.
The Sisters loaded her down with forty-eight kids, but even that wasnt the problem, for she somehow handled it and handled it well, staying up late, again, every night, preparing thoughtful lessons to keep the kids involved. The kids loved her.
Janet wasnt the problem. The problem was the Church which decided to replace all the lay teachers with Sisters, so Janet found herself out of a job. Since she wasnt confident enough to tackle a public school teaching position, she tried her luck at accounting, landing a job with the Eaton Corporation. She did well in accounting, since her strengths were steadiness, reliability, and accuracy, but cliques and personality conflicts permeated the office, and since she was quiet and sensitive, the constant backstabbing and bullying became so bad that she soon became despondent. She wondered if something wasnt wrong with her; why were things always so difficult? Why did God continue to punish her so?
And now, she was finally sorting it all out in this remote monastery in the middle of nowhere!
She was being exposed to many new and astonishing possibilities, for example, depending on herself to affect her destiny rather than passively relying on a judgmental and authoritarian god. But her old, decadent life was still alive and well!
Her favorite getaway was what she called her mini-mall (the monastery gift shop). It was a relaxing and fun place for her with all the enticing books, cards and jewelry, and she escaped there whenever she could. This wasnt often, however, because of the strict schedule and because the gift shop only opened on certain days and hours.
The kitchen was her second favorite place. Her dreams of working there and learning to prepare the wonderful vegetarian dishes never materialized, however, she was too meticulous at doing the community laundry something the monks noticed straightaway. Her job was to wash all the monks robes, in addition to visitors clothes; the only exception being Rev. Zenjis, (Roshi Kennetts) robes that were taken care of by her personal attendants.
Washing clothes every day for up to fifty people was challenging. The laundry room unfortunately was a dark, cramped basement, a cave actually, dug out from beneath a few of the rooms complete with Black Widow and Brown Recluse spiders lurking in damp and creepy crevices! What made the laundry job even more difficult was the monastic schedule. Every forty-five minutes, from 4:30 in the morning until 10:30 at night, a trainee must drop what she or he was doing and go on to another activity, such as breakfast, meditation sessions, classes, work sessions, reading, lunch, lectures, dinner, tea, reflection periods, and on and on.
Many activities involved a change of clothes, from work clothes, for instance, into meditation clothes. This involved going to the zendo (meditation hall), taking off our shoes, bowing at the entrance, walking respectfully (never in a hurry) to our personal little storage area, and being very quiet so we didnt disturb those who might be meditating. Then we had to quietly grab our change of clothes, walk (respectfully) to the exit, bow (reverently), put our shoes on, and make our way to the shower room where we changed clothes. Following this, we would go back to the zendo, take off our shoes, bow (reverently), enter the zendo, put the clothes that we had just changed out of back into our little storage area (quietly), bow, when exiting the zendo, slip on our shoes, and rush to the next activity. We had five minutes.
There was no personal time during the day except perhaps to relieve oneself (which was to be done mindfully and quickly as well). But the schedule didnt bother me at all; I am the type to drop things quickly and start something new just as fast. But Janet, well . . . Janet was another story. Janet was a plodder, slow to get going and then hesitant to stop what she was doing and let go, so although the schedule drove her crazy, it effectively began to teach her in small ways to give up her attachments that she formed so easily. Anything that she found pleasurable she would grasp at and hang on for dear life. Of course, when that pleasurable thing changed or disappeared, she would suffer horribly.
The monastery had two washing machines, usually with only one working, and no dryer, so timing loads between activities was tricky. Drying the clothes during the winter months was especially difficult, requiring Janet to hang the clothes in the shower room where there was a little heat, and which was also all the way on the other side of the grounds. On sunny days, she had the luxury of hanging clothes outside on a clothesline, which was a great treat, not only because of the two monastery dogs, Imadog” and Uradog,” that were tied close by (she loved animals), but because she could get out of her little prison of a laundry room for awhile.
Three months at the monastery and many baskets of clothes later, Janet made a big decision; she parked her prized Camaro in town at a local gas station with a for sale sign pasted on the window. It was a cool car; her first new one, and she feared that she would miss it. The white Camaro was one of her biggest attachments.
As it turned out however, she became so involved in preparing for her ordination that she didnt even have time to grieve when it quickly sold.
(To be continued) . . . Next Goats and shaved heads!

Are you interested to learn more about the Quantum Mind Power, and whether or not it really works? If you know about meditation and brainwave technology, you probably already know that there are audios that can help you change your brain wave activity and help you master you mental state better. So what do you get with The Morry Method, and does it really work?
1. What Do You Receive Your Purchase Of Quantum Mind Power?
This program claims to be able to use binaural beat technology to enhance your brain power. It charges far less money than other programs, which made me even more skeptical about its effectiveness at first. At least there was a money back guarantee, so I went ahead to buy it and see whether it would work for me. There is a forum in the membership area that allows me to interact with Morry and the other users, so there is always a community of people you can discuss your experience with.
2. But Does The Quantum Mind Power Really Work?
Having tried many other brainwave technology programs, I can honestly say that this program really does perform as well as the author claims. Its brainwave technology has been very effective for me, and I am very happy with their customer support too.
The Quantum Mind Power uses monaural and isochronic tones to create a mental state for you in a process known as brainwave entrainment. The creator of this system, Morry Zelcovitch, also provided me with a good amount of information about brainwaves.
3. What Types Of Benefits Can You Expect?
It would be hard to discuss all the benefits I have enjoyed with an improved mental state, as there are really many of them of them. I found that I have had a better and more positive attitude towards everything I do, my stress levels are decreasing, and I am feeling more confident and motivated about every task I have to do.
Is the Quantum Mind Power a scam? Visit http://www.top-review.org/quantum-mind-power.htm to read a FREE report about this system, or Click Here to Download Quantum Mind Power!

The purpose of this message is to bring to you an affirmation and meditation that you can utilize throughout the week so that your thoughts, your energy and ultimately, your feelings about yourself become more positive and your life will reflect these changes. Remember, you really are “Well Within”, you are simply accessing it consciously now.
This week we are focusing on the statement:
“I can cope.”
Three small words that mean so much.
Take a slow deep breath and say the words out loud:
“I can cope.”
What does this really mean? Every day we face challenges and struggles and though you may get caught in the drama of it all, today you have a new choice: Today you STOP, BREATHE, and FOCUS on the realization:
“I can cope”
Acknowledge all that you have handled and continue to handle in your life. Recognize that you have coped. You may not always like how you cope, but you do, in fact, cope. Today and throughout this week stop and breathe each time that you feel stressed, worried, anxious, angry, fearful or depressed. Take a moment and breathe in slowly and deeply, and say: “I Can Cope.”
How do you want to cope? What do you really feel in the moment? (not think, but feel) Just stop and breathe… slowly and deeply… allow your first reactions to pass… Reactions are just ways to get our feelings to stop, they are not necessarily the response that will be for your greater good. Breathe and allow yourself to focus on your feelings. What do you need to get through this moment? If you eat, drink, sleep, smoke, yell, explode or implode, is there something else that you really need or want??? Just stop and breathe slowly and deeply; let the urge for your usual reaction to pass. What do you feel when you say “I Can Cope”… Just allow the feelings to flow through you… “I can cope”…
Allow your mind to focus on what the situation is that has caused you stress or anxiety or fear. What is required to best handle this problem? Ask yourself if you can do it alone or if you need help, support, guidance or just some reassurance… Breathe in slowly and deeply and let your mind clear again and focus on the message….”I can cope”
Trust that who you are is enough, and that today, you can cope calmly, effectively, and with a positive sense of who you are. Know that you are on a new journey that allows you to look at and respond to situations in new ways; you have more choices, you have the opportunity for clarity. Breathe in slowly and deeply, and say out loud: “Who I am is enough, and I can cope!”

A lady once asked me how much time she should spend meditating. When I said, about 15-20 minutes 2 or 3 times a day, her eyes widened and she said that she didnt have that much spare time in her busy day.
I asked her how much time she spent each day watching TV,
How much time she spent listening to the radio or music,
how much she spoke on the phone,
how much she spent reading books and newspapers,
how much she spent on hobbies and other pastimes such as going to the gym,
how much time she spent surfing the web & reading emails,
how much time she spent cooking & cleaning,
how much time she spent sleeping (some people sleep too much),
how much time she spent socialising and chatting to friends.
It turned out that she couldnt possibly shave-off some time from all her other tasks to give a few minutes to one of the healthiest pursuits for mind and body ever devised.
One interesting thing about meditation is that when you get into the routine of doing it, 20 minutes can pass in a flash.
Often times Ive sat down to do my meditation, set my timer for 20 minutes, (I use the timer on my phone) closed my eyes, and after about what feels like 5 minutes hear the timer beeping.
That cant possibly be 20 minutes, I think, but when I check the clock, 20 minutes has definitely passed.
Also the time spent meditating is returned to you many times over. You can get more things done in the same time. Things seem to go smoother with fewer hitches.
When you meditate regularly, life is easier.

Meditation is one of the most important spiritual disciplines.
The benefits of regular meditation are numerous, too many
to list, yet peace of mind is one of the greatest.
Here are some of the meditation tips we recommend in
our Psychic/Meditative State Script.
*Try meditating on an empty stomach or at a different
time of day.
*Try it after a hot bath or shower.
*Try it after exercise.
*Try it after sex or instead of sex when in the
mood.
*Try relaxing music. Experiment with different kinds
to test which works best for you.
*Try no music.
*Try listening to our Let Go recording
which utilizes brain-mind technology to effortlessly
guide you into a meditative state.
*Try aromatherapy. Open a window when burning
incense or candles indoors to vent any toxic fumes.
Try rubbing a dab of pure scented oil on the back of
your hands or on your neck. The scent will relax you
and help you focus.
*Avoid all drugs. Even just marijuana only once in a
while hinders intuition and clouds your mind for weeks
afterwards.
*Try meditating with someone you love or with a group
of friends. The combined energy will help you go deeper.
*You may be sensitive to something youre eating or
drinking. Pick a day and eat lightly, perhaps about half
of what you usually do. Consume what you know will
be easy to digest, such as lightly steamed vegetables.
You should be able to focus more easily provided you
feel lighter and more alert.
*Avoid sugar, including fruit sugar if you have sugar
sensitivities.
*Watch the caffeine. Dont go without it if you know
youll have withdrawal symptoms, but dont overdo it
either.
*Certain supplements, herbs, and medications, especially
if they affect your mood, may be disagreeing with your
system and causing you to be scattered. Ask your doctor
or health professional for alternative recommendations
or if you can do without them for a while.
*Try deep breathing rapidly in and out through your mouth
or nose for at least five minutes. Ten is better.
*Roll your closed eyes up to your third eye area, between
and just above your eyes. Keep them focused there at a
comfortable position without straining them. This position
can automatically induce an altered state.
*Alternatively, with your eyes closed, try focusing your
attention on your chest plate. If your attention starts to
wander, begin counting at 1 and imagine each number
appearing on your chest plate, as if you are painting them
with an invisible paint brush.
*Close your eyes, breathe gently, and fantasize about
your dreams and goals. What would your life be like if
your dreams came true? These fantasies will help you
become relaxed and may allow you to focus more.
Patience and practice are important. Sooner or later
something will click.
*Ask for help. If you keep asking God or your guides or
angels of the Light how you can be more successful with
meditation, youll eventually become aware of effective
ways to go deeper and focus better. Youll be a pro in no
time.
*If youre still having trouble perceiving anything, jump
start the process by using your imagination. Tell yourself
youll perceive the first image, thought, or feeling, in
response to any of the questions or instructions in the
script, on the count of three. Then count one, two, three
and provide a picture or thought from your imagination
or memory. Continue this process until other images that
feel more related to the issue you are exploring start
filtering into your mind.
*If you have tried everything and you still cant seem gain
any insight, there may be two other reasons: First, your
expectations may be interfering. You may be expecting to
see something when you might be more successful perceiving
in a different way, such as sound or feeling. Try not to think
during the process. Stay open and try visualizing white light
around you. Second, you may be blocked emotionally,
mentally, or spiritually. Keep asking for help, continue
practicing while utilizing the white light, and stay open
for clues.
*It will also help you to realize that meditation is best
approached as a long-term discipline, one that offers
invaluable benefits for those willing to commit to it.

Meditation is one of the great skills everybody should learn as it helps you in developing a more effective mind and to help keep you at a state of calm. If you are serious about meditation having a room dedicated to the practice does one of two things. The room will after periods of time bring about a sense of calm as soon as you walk into the room because of the association between the room and peace. The meditation room will also encourage you and remind you to stick with the practice. All too often people start out on the meditation journey only to abandon the practice a few months in because they are feeling great.
The downside to this is that if you do not continue practicing your meditation you will never master the art and more so each time you restart the meditation practice it will take you a while to get back into the swing of the art. Meditation is something that needs to be practiced every single day.
When you are setting up a meditation room there are seven things you need to consider to make your room a little special.
Item #1 Cushions
For most people the optimum place to sit and meditate is on the floor. However since most houses have incredibly hard floors it is always a good idea to have a number of meditation cushions on the floor. Meditation cushions are not anything special they should simply be cushions with enough padding to soften the impact of sitting on the floor for any period of time.
It is always worthwhile having a number of cushions in your room so that if you consider having a group meditation session in your meditation room that you all have at least one cushion each. There is nothing worse than fifteen minutes into a meditation session only to find your bottom has gone to sleep and you feel extremely uncomfortable.
Item #2 Incense
Incense is a great device to help you relax during a meditation session. You can purchase incense from any quality Asian or Middle Eastern supermarket. Make sure that before you buy a box of any incense that you try out one stick first. Ask the supermarket attendant if you can because in most Asian or Middle Eastern supermarkets they will have samples for you to try.
I have found that lavender is a great incense to use when first starting out, but everybody will have their own preferences.
Item #3 A Small Prayer Table
I am a great believer in setting your room up similar to those from countries like Japan, Thailand or India. A prayer table allows you to place your incense and other important artefacts for your meditation on the prayer table. Some people use the prayer table to have images of God or Buddha to help in their meditation. If you are not a religious person I simply recommend putting a photo of your family on your prayer table with small incense holders on both the left and right hand side of the prayer table.
The reason I recommend this is that the photos will remind you why you are meditating. Meditation is all about helping you to improve your state of mind.
Item #4 A CD Player
A CD player is a great tool to have in your meditation room. Using mediation music like Baroque Meditation music will help you be more effective with your meditation. Many people find when they are starting out with meditation that it is hard to get to that state of calm without using meditation music as the music can influence your feelings.
You will find though as you become more experienced in meditation that you will be able to meditate without music but meditation music is essential when you are first starting out.
Item #5 Seven Candles
Most people in their houses today have harsh lighting in their rooms like incandescent or fluro lights. Often these lights can be very difficult to meditate under even with your eyes closed. My recommendation has always been to meditate under the glow of seven candles. The candles should be located on your prayer table at varying heights.
You will find that the soft glow of an open flame will on its own bring about a sense of calm and make your meditation session a lot more special. I recommend seven candles simply because the number seven is auspicious in my society and religion. Seven being a perfect number helps ensure during my meditation sessions that my session will in fact be perfect.
One safety point I would like to make, please ensure that you put your candles onto trays so that they will not burn your prayer table or start a fire. Candles in a house can be very dangerous so make sure that after your meditation session is over that you blow them out.
Item #6 Peaceful Pictures and Photos
I have already stated it is important to have on your prayer table a picture of your family to remind you why you are meditating. I also recommend having other peaceful pictures in your room to ensure that when you enter your meditation room that you have a sense of peace and tranquillity.
The types of pictures that are suitable are those of nature or animals like scenes from a rainforest, a flowing brook or even pictures of a calm ocean.
Item #7 A Vase of Flowers
The last item I recommend that you have in your meditation room is a vase of fresh flowers. There is nothing more relaxing and calming than to smell the perfume of freshly cut flowers. Often you will find that the smell of both the incense and freshly cut flowers will give off a unique fragrance that will help entice your mind into a sense of calm.
If you cannot afford to buy your flowers, why not grow them in your garden. You will be surprised just how easy it is to put some seeds into a pot and grow a bunch of flowers. Note that you do need to water those flowers.
Meditation is an important skill you need to master and having a special meditation room will help remind you and encourage you to practice this art. Just like sport, many people start off with the best of intentions but give up. Having a meditation room will certainly help you stay on track.
To finish off, these are the seven items I suggest that every serious meditator should consider having in their meditation room:
Item #1 Cushions
Item #2 Incense
Item #3 A Small Prayer Table
Item #4 A CD player
Item #5 Seven Candles
Item #6 Peaceful Pictures and Photos
Item #7 A Vase of Flowers

Tai Chi is known as a soft martial arts technique that emphasizes health, longevity and proper form above self-defense. Tai Chi originated in China but in recent years it has become popular around the world, particularly among older people looking for an exercise that is smooth and easy for them but that also contains a mental or spiritual aspect.
The idea behind Tai Chi is that you are working to balance two extremes, the yin and yang. It works to balance the flow of energy through the body, which can improve:
*Blood circulation
*Body heat retention
*Breath movement through the body
*Functioning of the lymph system
Tai Chi also focuses on relaxation through slow, repetitive movements rather than muscle contraction, which makes the exercise less stressful and more relaxing than other martial arts styles.
Many think of Tai Chi as a moving meditation because there is so much focus on making precise body movements, breathing steadily and seeking balance. The way Tai Chi is often practiced in Western countries the martial arts/self defense aspects are set aside for more emphasis on the health and meditative aspects.
Like yoga, Tai Chi is a practice that can lead you to spiritual growth, even if that is not what you were intending when you began the practice. Focusing inward to do the movements steadily and properly causes people to pay attention in a way they might not have for a long time previously. This can help open you up to spirituality and a deeper feeling of connection with the world around you (especially when Tai Chi is practiced in nature).
If you are looking for spiritual growth through practice of Tai Chi, mindfulness is the key. Pay attention to your breathing, to what parts of your body are moving and which are standing still as you go through the movements, and where your balance is coming from.
Move through the practice with thoughtfulness and grace, and visualize yourself becoming more in balance, both internally and with the world around you. Breathe in golden light and breathe it back out as your gift to the world.
Whatever reason brings you to Tai Chi, you will find many health and spiritual benefits. Some studies have show Tai Chi may help people lower cholesterol and improve cardiovascular and respiratory function. You may find you have more literal balance as well as more grounding and spiritual balance after just a few weeks of regular Tai Chi practice.

Meditation can be integrated with brain storming, as a problem-solving method. In the workplace, a co-worker who is not emotionally involved in the problem, will come up with a solution right away. This is because the co-worker took a fresh look at the problem.
The same can happen to you. If you take a break from any problem, and come back to it later, you may also see the solution right away. At night, it is best to write a problem down and leave it on the kitchen table, where you usually sit.
When you wake up the following morning, you may have a solution or discover the problem was not that big after all. This is a great method to avoid non-productive worrying, and find solutions, if your subconscious mind successfully solves the problem while you sleep.
Here is another focusing method, which will cause rapid progress in any direction of life. Keeping track of records, statistics, or goals, is a written progress report.
You can do the same thing for any aspect of life. This can be applied to your mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, or financial well being.
This progress report method measures results and causes people, and organizations, to break records. This same concept is used by elite athletes, who go after long-standing bench marks, with the power of visualization.
You do not have to make yourself crazy with competitive drive. All you have to do is refer to your own bench marks on a daily, weekly, or monthly, basis. By monitoring your progress, you will notice your measured results will improve.

As you begin to realize who you truly are right now you will begin to see just how much in love with your self you are.
You really do love yourself. It is primal.
The only thing missing is your realization of just who you are. You have misidentified and mistaken who you are with who you think you are.
You suffer that mistake big time. If the “spark” of desiring to come home to the heart has been lit inside of you - and for most folk this is not the case, even though everyone has this primal desire within them - then slowly slowly this “spark” will turn into a raging fire that will consume who you think you are.
As a seeker you think you are going to “attain” something. Instead you are going to lose all sense of who you think you are. The fire of the desire to come home to the heart will burn you up.
Who you think you are is going to die - because it is only a transient unreality, a falsehood. Currently you believe the unreal to be real and the real to be unreal. This is the nature of the illusion, it turns everything around 180 degrees. The appearance is not as it seems.
Your attachment to this world of your imagination - yes, it is entirely created by your own imagination, day by day - will unravel as you realize just who you are.
Every time that you dream - when asleep - you create another world of your imagination. You know what your dreams can be like and these are your own creation. Sometimes you fly in them, or go underwater without having to breathe, or are losing body limbs, or being chased, etc… You could be forgiven for believing how creative you can be.
Well, this world that you find yourself waking up in day in and day out also only exists because of your own imagination.
Now let the mouth of your mind wrap its laughing gear around that one!
Who you are is not who you think you are. As you “see and be” who you are - come to rest as this one - you will lose flavour in and with the games of your own imagination.
You will die to who you think you are and arise as the heart.
Elysha simply lives as the Divine Heart in motion. He is available to guide you to be this same One. http://www.elysha.org
