Saying goodbye everyday to your baby cradled and turning him over to the nanny can give you a nervous twinge, but you and your husband have no choice. Youve got to work, but how do you put your mind at ease? A nanny cam is your answer.
When you are a working mom
When a job spells security for the family, moms have to work alongside with dads. In this day and age, every penny is essential, and your extra pay brings home extra bacon. You will have to leave the baby at home with a nanny. A nanny referred by an agency or a friend may be a brilliant solution to your problem. Still, you are getting that nagging feeling. Is the nanny reliable?
News of children abused by their nannies is on the rise and no parent would want their children exposed to any form of ill treatment. Moms and dads have hailed the coming of the nanny cam, which greatly reduces their stress levels. Note this, the sales of the nanny cam has risen. Isnt that telling?
With a discreet nanny cam, you can watch how the nanny looks after your baby, even when you are miles away from home. Hundreds of moms are relying on the electric spy to check on the nannies at their homes. This technology better be called the Mommy Electric Eye too, for the purpose it is used.
How to use your home video surveillance effectively
An electronic nanny cam will require the placement of hidden cameras in strategic places all over the house. The nanny is sure to go around with the baby in tow. The first place of course is the nursery. Set a nanny cam overhead the crib and another next to the changing table. Other places are the kitchen, dining room, and the living room. Dont forget to place a nanny cam near the door. You will be able to monitor if the nanny is receiving forbidden guests.
Choose a digital receiver for your nanny cam. The images are recorded in real time and the movements are quicker and realistic. A surveillance system with audio transmitters is ideal with a baby around. You can check if the nanny is attending to the baby or if the baby is in pain. You can also hear the nanny talking, shouting, singing, and laughing.
Make sure that the nanny cam you are using can provide you remote access any time, has an internal web server, and a hard drive with vast storage to boot. If you are using a digital video recorder server, you can use up to 16 nanny cams. This type of server can mix with different types of camera too.
You can use a fake camera too
As part of the espionage, you can place fake nanny cams in obvious places where the nanny can expect. Unknown to her you have hidden cameras in other same areas. This will spice up your surveillance and spying efforts. However, in deference to her rights and her privacy, you shouldnt place one in the bathroom. After all, you use it too and it could backfire at you.
With the uncertainty of these trying times, theres no room to make mistakes. You never just know. Just play it right. If the babys safety is your top concern, a nanny cam can make it happen.
Is your child priority one? Invest in a nanny cam. Visit video-surveillance-guide.com and find information all about wireless video security and get a wireless surveillance camera or two.

Once a building has been exposed to a large volume of water, it becomes extremely hazardous as water causes both health and structural risks.
Water Damage Related Health Hazards and Risks
Dampness and humidity promote the growth of moisture-related mold and mildew that can lead to toxic, mold-related reactions such as immune disorders, pathogenic disease and cancer. Allergic reactions consist of painful headaches, disorientation and dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, chronic asthma, rashes and open sores, and chronic fatigue.
Be aware that floodwaters may also be contaminated with sewage and waste. These are fertile breeding ground for disease carrying termites and insect infestation.
Water Related Structural Hazards and Risks
Water saturation affects and damages structures in a few ways.
Direct damage to materials leading to structural instability:
Wallboard disintegrates
Structural integrity of concrete is undermined
Support columns resting in waterlogged soil slowly twist and tilt
Wood swells, warps, and rots
Stairs, floors, and roofs may collapse bulging ceilings, indicating trapped water
Electrical systems can short out, malfunction, and cause fires or shock.
Leaking LP gas (also known as natural gas) can cause fire or gas poisoning.
Household possessions and interior design can be damaged as follows:
Mud and silt get possessions and valuables dirty
Paint and wall coverings peel off
Floor tiles are lifted
Panels wrap
Carpets stain and rot
Furnishings such as textiles and furniture stain
Books, photographs, paintings become extremely fragile
Property value decreases after being wet. Most insulation is ineffective, but it will continue to hold and create high moisture conditions which will damage metal, masonry, and wood.

Night vision cameras and other security cameras and night surveillance devices have become very popular indeed, and have added to the safety and security of business and people in general. Night vision cameras are a type of night surveillance device themselves, allowing recordings to be taken at night that are perfectly clear. Night surveillance has become more and more important with the increase of violent crimes and property destruction that has become more and more rampant in recent decades.
Security cameras of all types are becoming more prevalent, increasingly seen in homes as well as businesses. Its very rare to find a convenience store without a security camera installed in at least 3 differing locations throughout the building. As many convenience stores are open and well lit 24 hours a day, night vision cameras are unnecessary, but the fact that convenience stores and liquor stores are the most held up businesses in the world, targeted again and again by armed robbers and petty thieves, a good security camera is a must for these businesses. These types of business use security cameras as deterrents, letting everyone know that they are being watched, and keeping the security camera in plain sight at all times.
However, there are security cameras and night vision cameras out there that are almost as small as you can imaging, and can be used for carrying out day or night surveillance with no one the wiser to whats happening. These are especially good types of security cameras to have in an area where people have been causing damage, destruction, or general problems and youre trying to catch them so that they can be prosecuted and the harassment of your property will stop. Security cameras in your home can be either type, as you can choose whats more important to you. Large and obvious can deter criminals from trying, but tiny and inconspicuous can make sure that anyone dumb enough to come into your home is well video taped, and can be captured that much easier and brought justice.
In the end, the choice of security camera is up to you. Base your decision upon your needs. If you dont need night surveillance, then dont spend the extra money on a night vision camera. If you want it to be obvious, buy a big bulky camera and stick it straight into the corner of your building. If you dont want it known that you have a camera recording, then purchase a small security camera and hide it neatly away behind a picture frame. Either way, the choice of which path to follow should be made before you purchase a security camera. Its no good to purchase a night vision camera if youre only recording during daylight hours. Likewise, it would be ignorant to purchase a full sized security camera then try to be covert with it. Decide what approach you like the best, and then purchase the security camera or night vision camera that you feel best fits your needs.

Many homeowners and security consultants believe that home security cameras can provide a deterrent to break ins, while also providing importance evidence in identifying convicting burglars when they are caught and tried. Others view home security cameras as giving them an option to see what is happening around their home without the need to personally venture outdoors. Depending on the system installed, they can also record and send images through a network connection to a security company monitoring the homes security system.
When home security cameras first became available to the public, recording was done on videocassette recorders, with the more advanced ones capable of recording 24 hours through stop-action recording sequences. Playback was typically grainy and jumpy due to the method in which they were taken, playing back about every 5th or 6th frame. Today, home security cameras can be connected to digital video recorders, complete with sound and can be programmed to record only if there is movement.
Motion sensors and heat sensors that detect a change in the ambient temperature of a room can be adapted to video cameras, but the imaging of digital recorders can provide a clear video and is easier to copy and enhance for prosecutorial purposes. The modern home security cameras can be connected to allow the viewing of multiple camera shots at one time on the same screen.
Hidden Or Exposed, Cameras Still Perform
Depending on the desired outcome of a video, the cameras can be hidden or prominently displayed to let people know they are being recorded. Some laws provide guidelines to the placement of cameras in public places, however most home camera installations can be done without restriction. Placing home security cameras in bathrooms or in other places where other residents of the home expect a large degree of privacy may invite angry responses from family members and guests in the home.
Hidden cameras can be used to identify burglars others causing problems in a home and on the other side, home security cameras that are installed in plain sight, but unreachable to invite damage or disabling, may serve as a deterrent to crime as the potential burglar wants to stay out of the limelight. Most security companies advocate having visible cameras on the perimeter of a persons home and hidden cameras inside as a way of deterring break ins and for prosecuting those who ignore the initial warning.
When deciding to use home security cameras, it is always best to get the advice of a security expert to make sure their placement will best serve the needs of the homeowner.

Emergency (pl. ies) - a sudden, urgent, usually unexpected occurrence or
occasion requiring immediate attention.
About half of all Americans say they now have a disaster supplies kit, the other half do not. In which half are you? Less than half of all Americans have an evacuation plan, more than half do not. In which half are you?
There are 163,000,000 dogs and cats in the US, yet 65% of their owners have no plan to keep their pets safe in an emergency. More people die in fires than in hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, and all other natural disasters combined, yet 85% of parents in a recent poll said they do not discuss fire safety with their children. 72% of Americans think they have a 3-day supply of water, but only 23% know that each person needs one gallon of water per day in an emergency situation.*
Begin to get the picture? Okay. Most of us are not really prepared for an emergency. Lets get down to what it takes to survive an emergency: preparation, preparation, preparation. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security lists 30 Tips for Emergency Preparedness.
Ill summarize DHSs key tips and offer a few of my own that should be on everyones list:
Have a plan, write it down, make sure everyone has a copy, rehearse it:
- how to get out of the house or apartment
- where to meet nearby, where to meet if you cant remain nearby
- choose an emergency contact person out of the area, store the
name and number on your cell phone(s)
Keep emergency supplies handy, enough for at least 72 hours
- important documents, credit cards, back-up cds, money, coins
- extra sets of keys (car, house, safety deposit box, etc)
- flashlights/lighting, portable AM/FM radios; preferably self-powered
- food and water (human & pet), emergency distiller and/or filtration device(s)
- extra set of clothing & shoes, extra blankets/sleeping bag(s), backpack
- first aid kit
- pet first aid kit and thermometer
- prescription and non-prescription drugs
- portable toilet (preferably a dry toilet) and toilet paper
- cell phone charger, preferably hand crank
- evacuation kit(s) (see below)
Keep key survival tools handy (in or near evacuation kit)
- ABC type fire extinguisher(s)
- gas shut-off tool
- pocketknife, whistle, compass, waterproof matches
- ax, shovel, pry bar
- escape ladder for every floor above first
- smoke/evacuation hoods (one/person, 20 minutes of air)
Be prepared for bird flu and/or biological contaminates; all of the above plus:
- N-95 (or better) face masks, preferably enough for at least 2 weeks/person
- Tamiflu (see your physician)
- surgical gloves
- hand sanitizer
- additional food & water
Evacuation Kit one per person; can include some of the above, be
creative, think ahead
- sturdy backpack
- substantial first aid kit
- 12-hour light sticks (1-3)
- 36-hr survival candle
- flashlight & extra batteries or hand crank flashlight
- portable AM/FM radio & extra batteries or hand crank
- multi-tool or Swiss Army-style pocketknife
- hand warmers (2-4)
- box of waterproof matches
- food bars for 3 days (3600 calories)
- water pouches for 3 days (6-8 4 oz. pouches)
- plastic cup (collapsible if available)
- roll of duct tape
- 25 50 of nylon cord or rope
- 2 or more dust masks or N95 masks
- leather work gloves
- folding shovel
- toilet paper, toothbrush/paste, personal hygiene items
- insect repellant, sting relief, sun screen, hand sanitizer
- waterproof bag for important documents
- compass, whistle, signal mirror
Sounds like a lot, but you only have to do this once and youre ready to deal with any emergency for the next five years or so. Call it life insurance. Pretty good Insurance too. Ask anyone who managed to survive a hurricane, flood, tornado, earthquake or fire. They didnt expect an emergency either. Catastrophe only happens to other people, right? Wrong.
Next time, Ill discuss how you should prepare for emergency survival in your car.

If youve had the chance to go into a big financial institute like a bank or the stock exchange, or the cash register section in a convenience store, you will notice that there are closed circuit televisions (CCTV) monitoring each transaction. CCTV is a collection of television cameras that receive live feed from a cable, antenna or satellite system and are used for surveillance purposes.
Experiments using CCTV were initially done in the United Kingdom during the 70s. They were manufactured to help increase security in financial institutions but were not widely accepted until a government report written in 1994, supported their use. After that, CCTV cameras were installed in parking garages, public areas like parks and transportation stations like train and bus stations. With the help of these monitoring systems, criminals have been caught in the act and questionable behavior of individuals in public places is caught on camera and a crime is prevented before it can take place. Cameras installed on streetlights have also proved effective in identifying traffic violations like speeding and running red lights.
Casinos use elaborate surveillance systems throughout their establishments. With literally millions of dollars changing hands every minute, the casino industry has every reason to ensure the security of their compound. They have hundreds of cameras installed in the floors that monitor the movements of employees and players. They have highly sophisticated facial recognition systems that can identify possible criminals or past offenders. The cameras they use are equipped with infrared systems that identify hidden objects obscured from the vision of the security personnel.
CCTV provides detailed information on CCTV, CCTV Cameras, CCTV Systems, CCTV Surveillance Systems and more. CCTV is affiliated with Wireless Internet Security.

There are several types and classifications of surveillance systems, the most basic difference being that of interior versus exterior security cameras. Exterior kinds have a somewhat different exoskeleton, or protective covering. Obviously anything that is constantly exposed to the elements will need some sort of protection such as a metal visor, sport mounting, or durable casing. Interior surveillance kinds require electronic friendly, dry environments with reasonable temperatures. Beyond these two major differences in surveillance cameras, a host of various types can be used for various functions and desired results, the most common being wireless and hidden devices.
Wireless surveillance cameras have become incredibly popular for obvious reasons. These units are much simpler to install now that there are no wires to worry about. Not only can the average citizen save money on self installation, but the manufacturing costs have also decreased dramatically for wireless surveillance cameras. Wireless units also bring a new element of flexibility to camera placement, with total freedom from wires. The only difficulty when dealing with wireless units is the need for power. There are some options to use a wire for electricity only, so you still do not need to run a video feed wire, and some units run on battery power that can be recharged or replaced.
They are also quite popular, giving people the ability to monitor specific areas while going unnoticed. Sometimes it is important to display security cameras in an open view, but it is also extremely helpful to utilize the services of hidden surveillance. There are a variety of reasons that they are useful. For some homeowners, they are used to check up on children, monitor house sitters or cleaners, and keep a close watch on valuables. In some high security circumstances, employing a combination of hidden and non-hidden cameras is advantages. For example, in a banking situation, a mounted camera may act as a deterrent, but a criminal is likely to dodge the view of such an obvious fixture. A hidden camera can assist in identifying the subject for police or authority reference.
Perhaps the most effective hidden cameras are considered “mini security cameras.” These tiny lens cameras fit in the smallest of place such as through air vents, around corners, or mounted to other fixtures. Though they are very small, they can still produce the resolution needed to make identifications.

Studies are underway by entomologists on the different types of termites and their impact on society. Predicting a way to and doing trials will hopefully come to a conclusion about which is the better way to do away with termite infestations in homes. Because termites destroy so many homes and then move to the next, we need to find ways to preserve our homes, but also nature, since termites are vital to the ecosystem.
The Super termite as it has been nicknamed is the Formosan termite that is in dubious to the United States and Hawaii. The reason for the name super termites comes from their ability to devour a building in a very short time period. They have devoured up to thirteen ounces of wood daily beating the subterranean termite who consumes fifteen pounds a month. The reproductive adds to the population of the super termites by laying as many as thirteen hundred eggs a day.
Ruthless and undetected, these super termites will literally eat you out of house and home in a matter of year in some cases. The speed at which they consume wood is just amazing for such a small insect. The Formosan termite has less traveling distance to their nest as they build them in the walls of the building they are feeding on. They can build in walls as high as three hundred feet off the ground.
Imagine that you feel your home is airtight and no insect can enter. If you see an ant, you can assure yourself you are not safe from the super termites as well. Nothing is unattainable when you are dealing with termites. They smell and sense the cellulose from the wood and will find a way in to feed.
Super termites along with all species of termites live and breathe in your home and go undetected for years, if you have know idea what to look for. Because of their ability to feed undetected for years, the damage results in the thousands of dollars to fix their handy work. We all fall prey to this devastating insect and they in turn are smarter than we are as humans.
If you do monthly checks of your home and property for super termites, you may get away with a simple and easy pesticide control. If the infestation is extreme, you may want to call a professional pest control company.

Choosing a home security company to provide your security system may seem daunting but it really isnt more complicated than most other choices that homeowners are required to make on a daily basis. You do have many options when it is time to select a home security company but making your decision isnt more complicated than choosing a painting company to paint the exterior of your home or choosing an interior design company to decorate the interior of your home. Homeowners make the mistake of believing that choosing a home security company is more complicated simply because it involves electronics. Because most homeowners do not have a great deal of knowledge about security systems, they believe that they are not qualified to choose a home security company. Fortunately for homeowners choosing a home security company is no more complicated than making any other decisions in their home.
Reputation is a very important factor in choosing a home security company. In doing your research, eliminate any home security company that does not have a solid reputation. While choosing a new home security company that has not been in the industry long enough to have built up a solid reputation does have some risk involved, it is certainly less risky than opting for a home security company that has a poor reputation. You may find that a newer company may offer their services at a discounted price. This may be an opportunity to save some money in your security system. An established company with a solid reputation is your best bet but a newer home security company may offer excellent service at a discounted price. The key is to not choose a company that has had many previous customer complaints.
You should also consider the options that each home security company offers. Some may offer monitored security systems where there is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week monitoring service while other companies may not offer this service. Other options to consider are whether or not you want a smoke detection system, if you want an exterior siren and lights and whether you want features such as motion detectors and breaking glass sensors. Deciding ahead of time which type of service you would prefer, can simplify your selection process because you will be able to eliminate any home security company that does not meet your needs.
Finally, budget is a factor to be considered by most homeowners in choosing a home security company. A home security company that has been around for awhile and has an excellent reputation and offers a great deal of options is likely to be more costly than a newer home security company or one that offers only basic features.
Choosing a home security company isnt more difficult than other decisions that homeowners are often tasked with making. Reputation, features and price are three of the main factors to consider when choosing a home security company.

Having fire alarms in your home is a great way to safeguard the safety of you and your loved ones. Along with installing the fire alarms, there is also the need to make sure you conduct a fire alarm inspection periodically. Here are a few things to make sure you check on a regular basis.
A crucial element in your fire alarm inspection is to make sure the batteries are in working order. Check the current level to make sure the battery is fully charged. Also check the terminals and terminal clamps to make sure they are clear of any type of rust or corrosion. You may want to clean them every now and then with a non-flammable solvent, to keep them in top condition. Change the batteries as needed, but certainly no less than once a year. Many manufacturers of fire alarm systems recommend that you change the battery at twice per calendar year.
In like manner, check the electrical connections that will be powering the units most of the time. Remember that the battery is there to kick in when the power is off for any reason, not as the first line of defense. As part of the fire alarm inspection, test the horns and strobes and make sure they are loud enough and function at full capacity. Should a fire break out, you want both the sound and the revolving lights to be enough to attract the attention of all occupants within the dwelling. Also make sure the automatic shift from electrical power to the battery backup is working seamlessly.
Fire alarm systems are made to not only detect the heat from a fire, but also smoke. This valuable feature could buy you and your loved ones extra seconds or even minutes that allow you to escape from the house. As a part of your fire alarm inspection, direct smoke at the units, making sure they sound at the slightest hint of smoke.
If your fire alarm system includes a display panel, include a check of the panel as part of your fire alarm inspection. Make sure the panel is functioning properly and can be used by any fire fighters that need to enter the home with the intent of containing the fire.
Investing in a fire alarm system is smart. Making sure you conduct a fire alarm inspection on a regular basis is even smarter. Sit down with your family and plan out periodic inspections throughout the year. All of you will sleep better knowing your fire alarm system is functionally at full capacity.
