Many, if not most, Americans do not get enough vitamin D. We all know that vitamin D helps your body build strong bones. However, if you don’t get enough vitamin D your body will actually destroy your bones in search of calcium! Without vitamin D your body is unable to absorb calcium from food or supplements.
Vitamin D’s most important role is to signal the intestines to absorb calcium into the bloodstream. Without sufficient vitamin D, your body will break down bone to get the calcium it needs no matter how much calcium you consume through food and supplements. Vitamin D is also relatively scarce in normal diets.
The recommended daily amount of Vitamin D for people between the ages of 50 and 71 is 400 international units (IU). To meet this recommendation a person would have to consume 5 ounces of salmon, 7 ounces of halibut, 30 ounces of cod, a 6 ounce can of tuna or 4 cups of milk. Very few people include that much fish or milk in their daily diet. For that matter, milk does not normally contain vitamin D. Nearly all of the milk consumed in the U.S. today is fortified with vitamin D.
By the way, the practice of fortifying milk began in the 1930s to combat rickets, a disease that leads to soft, weak bones caused by vitamin D deficiency. Therefore, don’t make the mistake of assuming that all dairy products are automatically vitamin D fortified. In fact, dairy products such as cheese, yogurt, and ice cream, are not typically fortified with vitamin D and contain only small amounts.
Casual exposure to sunlight will provide you with most of your vitamin D requirement. Sunlight contains two forms of radiant energy that your body needs to generate vitamin D, which is why it’s known as the sunshine vitamin. If you were to sit outside on a sunny day in the middle of summer at the equator wearing only a swimsuit, your body would create a whopping 20,000 IU of vitamin D per hour.
Depending on the season and where you live, even if you don’t sunbathe or spend a great deal of time in the sun, you can generate a fair amount of vitamin D just by walking outside for short periods of time throughout the day. Also, your age, skin color and use of sunscreen will influence your production of vitamin D.
Recent studies have revealed evidence that health benefits from vitamin D extend far beyond its reputation for building healthy bones. Over the past decade, studies suggest that adequate amounts of vitamin D may lessen the risk of several types of cancer including colon, prostate, and breast cancer. It may also play a role in preventing high blood pressure, multiple sclerosis, and schizophrenia. A 2007 meta-analysis of 18 random controlled tests showed that vitamin D supplementation may even help you live longer.

Vitamins are an important part of a health diet. Unlike carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, vitamins do not directly provide building blocks or energy for your body; vitamins function as assistants to your body in creating and breakdown down building blocks and storing and releasing energy.
Vitamins come in two basic types: water-soluble and fat-soluble (see the table on the website below)
Quick-Guide to Vitamins by Shoppe.MD Online Pharmacy
If your diet generally follows the USDA Food Guide Pyramid, you will get the recommended daily allowances of vitamins (the amount people generally need). But there are many reasons why these guidelines might not get us the vitamins we need.
* Day-to-day living: In the rush of daily life, it may be hard to eat a consistently balanced diet. Sometimes we skip meals or buy them from sources (like fast-food restaurants) where we do not have easy access to information about nutritional value.
* Pregnancy: If you are pregnant (or breastfeeding), you may need to significantly change your vitamin intake. Folic acid is crucial to the brain and nervous system development of, but at the same time an excess of other vitamins (including vitamin A) can cause serious fetal injury.
* Seniority: Seniors often have difficulties eating or digesting certain foods, including those that can provide vitamins
* Diets: Being on low-calorie diets or diets that restrict certain types of food can significantly impact getting enough of all kinds of vitamins.
So for many of us, vitamin supplements will be helpful in getting and staying healthy. But like anything else we do for our health, its as important to know the risks as the benefits.
* The Too Much of a Good Thing Trap: Vitamins in the proper doses are good for you. But many vitamins are toxic in large quantities, so taking more than enough may be a bad idea. Excess vitamin A can lead to nausea, vomiting, and peeling skin, and over the long-term can lead to significant damage to bones, brain and nerves. It can also be very dangerous for a developing fetus. Vitamin E can cause a rise in LDL (bad) cholesterol, and like all fat-soluble vitamins, is stored in the liver, so if you take a little bit extra every day, the impact can show up over time. Even vitamin D, the bone-building vitamin, can actually encourage bone loss if taken in excess.
* Vitamins are not food: Vitamins are sometimes called micronutrients. Small doses can keep us healthy. However, they are not a substitute for the food that your body needs to make energy and rebuild damaged tissue. Diets that severely restrict or eliminate proteins, fats, or carbohydrates can impair functioning, and vitamins cannot make up for that.
* Fetuses and children are not grown-ups: Children have special vitamins for a reason - their bodies need different things than adults do. Treat childrens supplements like any other medication; they may taste like candy, but letting your child take more than the recommended dose can have significant consequences. To keep a fetus growing steadily and correctly, a vitamin discussion should be part of your regular prenatal care.

Capsaicin as a bodybuilding supplement for fat loss. Does it work?
It seems that everyone has a product on the market that is said to promote fat loss. More and more manufacturers are cashing in on the publics infatuation and obsession with fat loss. Body builders, however, tread a little more lightly. Because their bodies are their fortunes, their identities, they are more careful about the bodybuilding supplements that they take, the food that they eat as well as nutrition. Many tend to lean toward natural bodybuilding supplements simply because they have aversions to putting synthetic materials into their bodies. Capsaicin is a popular fat loss supplement that many bodybuilders swear by. But just how effective is it?
Capsaicin is the stuff in chili peppers that makes them hot. It is a known irritant for humans and animals, best known for it burning sensation in any tissue that it touches. Pure capsaicin is colorless, odorless and has a texture that is crystalline to waxy. It is the active ingredient in pepper spray, the chemical riot control agent. On the dinner table, it is used to give foods a little heat. In the weight room, however, capsaicin is being used as a method of fat loss.
Studies Show
Scientists in Taiwan have found that capsaicin can cause fat cells to self destruct. In laboratory tests, scientists used preadipocytes, cells that develop into fat cells, as their subjects. They created a capsaicin extract in the lab and infused the fat, contained in test tubes, with the extract for a period of eight days. Every other day they freshened the extract. The result was that the preadipocytes that were exposed to the capsaicin died off before they could develop into fat cells. The results of the experiment appeared in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry.
Of course, the jury is still out on Capsaicin. As natural supplements go, there is no governing body that regulates it so any claims made are not backed by what the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) deems to be conclusive evidence. However, scientists the world over are conducting studies to link capsaicin to weight loss and the results that are coming in look fairly promising. Studies show that Capsaicin can prevent new fat cells from forming as well as decrease the appetite and reduce fat in the body.
Another study used humans to test the effects of capsaicin on fat in the human body. Each subject was tested for metabolic rate and measured prior to the study. Additionally, they were measured and their metabolic rate measured every half hour after taking the extract or after taking placebo tablets. Weight and body fat was also measured in the subjects. This study was performed over a two week period.
The findings of the study revealed that the subjects who took the capsaicin experienced a significant increase in their mean metabolic rate at 30 minutes and 60 minutes after taking the extract. Throughout the study that ranged a two week period, body fat was reduced in 70% of the subjects who had taken the capsaicin extract. The greatest effect of reduction of body fat occurred in those subjects who began the study with higher fat content at the onset. The subjects experienced a loss in fat, not water, based on hand held body fat measuring devices.
Supplement Forms
Capsaicin is one of the oldest natural body building supplements that has been used to a variety of conditions. It can be found in capsule form, liquid and even a nasal spray. The liquid form of capsaicin (as well as the nasal spray), manufactured by SiCap Industries, used a special hot pepper extract to promote weight loss. The formula includes feverfew and green tea extract. It is intended to boost metabolism, increase circulation, and decrease body fat. The liquid is in a spray form that can be sprayed on foods like fish, chicken or salads, or sprayed directly on the tongue.

Every serious bodybuilder once in his career comes to the point in his life when he asks himself whether to use steroids or not. Once he answers this question to himself, and if the answer is positive, there goes the next question: Where do I get them, where do I buy steroids?
Way back there wasn’t much choice you’d go to the biggest guy in the gym and, after some chit-chat, ask him if he can get you some and hope for the best. Nowadays it is somewhat different. Because the government is getting stricter and the penalties are high people will not sell steroids to complete strangers because of fear of police. For the same reasons people - potential customers - don’t dare asking bout steroids that much either. Thankfully there came an alternative Internet Sales.
At first Internet wasn’t treated with much respect by bodybuilders, it was in fact quite overlooked. Let’s face it, most bodybuilder weren’t really interested in a geeky virtual network used mainly by geeks. Bodybuilders just weren’t geeks. Gradually things changed, though, as people realized that by using Internet, they can easily communicate with other people from all over the world. Bodybuilders, too, realized that they can reach a lot more people over the Internet than they could ever reach in the gym, and all these people shared their ideas, experience, best cycles, mistakes… And they could do that from the confinement of their homes, and with complete anonymity.
Naturally, as more people started sharing their ideas, people also realized they could ask others where to obtain anabolic steroids. And they were told; eventually, there would be sources offering their products to others. Thus more and more people started ordering steroids over the net. Unfortunately, just as soon, crooks realized they could simply claim they would sell steroids to a potential customer, but would simply stop responding after they would receive the money. These so called scammers lowered actual Internet steroids sales and seriously lowered people’s confidence in online sources.
It is often asked why would anyone want to order online anyway if you order from someone in the gym you can inspect the products visually at least on the spot; you don’t send money to unknown persons without knowing if you will ever see it again; if the gear is fake, you always know whom to approach… These are all very good arguments for using known sources, those found in the gym, but they are only good when one already knows the source or is introduced by an intermediate. When, on the other hand, a young bodybuilder with no connections wants to buy gear directly he is confronted with difficult question. Whom do I ask; is he reliable; will he talk to others about me; will I be perceived as a druggie if he talks? In the last couple of years, because the laws got even stricter, there is always a question whether or not that other person is police or not. And even if one is willing to ignore that a potential source may not. These are important questions and to many people anonymity is more important than couple of dollars they might loose to a scammer.
On the other hand it is known that on the Internet you are unknown. When you ask a question on a public steroid board, something like which is better, Sustanon or Deca, no one is going to bash you about using steroids. Even if anyone would want to, it is limited to that public board or group. Once you decide you wish to order online, all you really give out is your address. This info again is stored on some server on the Internet, and impossible to access for outsiders. When you pay for an online order, you never have to give out any info about what exactly you pay for. Some more advanced online sources even offer Credit Card payment, so it only take couple of clicks and some typing and youre done. Of course online ordering is not perfect: you are never sure when you will receive the items you ordered as post usually takes time; and you are never sure if you will receive them at all. This last issue, however, can be avoided if you do some research beforehand and pay attention to some basic guidelines for evaluating steroid sources (a separate article to follow shortly ;))
So we can see that online steroid ordering has more positive sides than negative, and in fact is easier and better than looking for a source in a gym (without any prior connections). Although it is far from perfect it does have the advantage of anonymity and complete deniability in the face of law. And as such it is the best choice for anyone trying to get steroids.

Vitamin C or Ascorbic Acid was first isolated from lemons in 1932. The
C in this very important vitamin is debatable and may stand for citrus,
cold, or collagen for the following reasons.
Fruits found with the highest concentration of Vitamin C are citrus fruits,
rose hips, cherries, papayas, cantaloupes, and strawberries. Common
vegetable sources are red and green peppers, broccoli, sprouts,
tomatoes, asparagus, parsley, dark leafy greens, and cabbage.
The most important function of Vitamin C is the formation and
maintenance of collagen, the basis of connective tissue, found in skin,
ligaments, cartilage, vertebral discs, joint linings, capillary walls, bones,
and teeth.
Vitamin C is an antioxidant vitamin. It blocks the oxidation of water-
soluble molecules, which lead to the creation of free radicals, the culprits
responsible for making our bodies prone to cellular injury and disease.
A most popular disease associated with Vitamin C deficiency is scurvy.
Lack of Vitamin C in the body impedes collagen formation, causing
reduced health of the tissues. Early symptoms are poor resistance to
infection and very slow wound healing. In addition, many medical
problems have been found to be associated with low blood levels of
Vitamin C. These are common infections, colds, depression, high blood
pressure, arthritis, vascular fragility, allergies, ulcers, and even
cholesterol gallstones.
The RDA for adults is 60 mg. Only 10 to 20-mg. of Vitamin C are
required to prevent scurvy, and there is more than that in one portion of
most fruits or vegetables. For most people the minimum dosage is
between 100150 mg. daily.
Vitamin C is the most commonly consumed nutrient supplement and is
available as regular or chewable tablet or as time-release capsule, as
well as in powder, effervescent, and liquid forms.

Omega 3 and ADHD have been found to be linked by virtue of the benefits Omega 3s provide to those with ADHD. ADHD is an attention disorder with a component of hyperactivity in children. One of the main causes of ADHD is a deficiency of the Omega 3 fatty acid known as DHA.
Omega 3s is essential fatty acids. They are so called because the human body does not make its own Omega 3s but rather must get them from renewable food sources. Breast milk contains enough Omega 3 fatty acids that are required daily for good health.
ADHD or hyperactive disorder should have a cure. Children may have erratic appetites and often can become out of control. Daily Omega 3 supplements are recommended and safe for such children. Adding fish to their diets will also provide them with the necessary Omega 3s.
Doctors’ often recommend that women who are pregnant or nursing increase their fish intake (up to twice weekly at least) or to use Omega 3 supplements. DHA in particular is important for brain health and development as well the proper division of cells and cellular integrity. Omega 3s are said to prevent miscarriages and birth defects.
Fish is the richest known source of Omega 3 fatty acids - DHA and EPA.Fish also provides vitamin A and other vitamins and minerals. Fish oil supplements are recommended because many people do not or cannot eat fish as recommended -twice weekly. They are also tasteless and odorless and easy to swallow.
Fish oil capsules are easily available in most stores without a prescription. The reputation of the manufacturer of the supplement is very important as is customer satisfaction. Supplements made with pharmaceutical grade fish oil is the only type of fish oil determined to be fit for human consumption. Because of its purity it is safe to take.
Pharmaceutical grade fish oil has been molecularly distilled - a process that removes all toxins and impurities from the fish oil.
The Hoki fish is rich in Omega 3s and found in the waters of New Zealand. These waters are known because they have minimal levels of toxins and are far less polluted than most other regions. Hoki fish oil is free from contaminants and is therefore safer and more beneficial to our good health.
John Collins is a content editor who focuses on a wide array of niche health topics. His latest website - Natural Dha Fish Oil focuses on omega 3 as a whole, and in particular, a natural product our editors personally use with excellent health results known as - Dha Esters
